Why youngsters are having a BLAST! at St Mary’s

BIBLE Learning and Sharing Together is the name of our new children’s group which meets on the first Sunday of every month.

Called BLAST for short, and led by Revd Denise and Julie Stanton, the group meets in the church hall during the 10.15am service, returning to church in time for the end of the service.

Please spread the word. The more the merrier!

Why not light up St Mary’s for that special occasion?

Have you had a cuppa at The Parish Oven yet?

HAVE you visited The Parish Oven at St Mary’s yet?

Since opening in late May 2021, the Parish Oven tearooms have been slowly but surely building a reputation, by word-of-mouth, as a great place to meet for a chat, a cuppa and a slice of home-made cake.

Open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am until 3pm, the tearooms are manned entirely by volunteers from the church, with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of St Mary’s.

In summer months the tearoom gardens, with St Mary’s as a backdrop, are a peaceful place to relax and meet up with friends and family.

Initially, the tearooms are being run from the top room of the Church Hall, but the vision is to convert the adjacent Verger’s Cottage (also known as the Sexton’s Cottage) into a church centre or ‘hub’ containing dedicated tearooms, church offices and a meeting room.

The building is Grade II listed, so any work will be done sympathetically and help bring a much-loved local landmark back into full use and enable St Mary’s to be a vital presence in the community during the week, as well as on a Sunday.
