The list below shows the civil registration districts in Monmouthshire between 1837 and 1974. The same districts were used to compile the census returns for the years 1851 to 1911.

The county of Monmouthshire was abolished on 1.4.1974 to become parts of the counties of Gwent, Mid Glamorgan, and South Glamorgan.
